I would have not killed Charles but had him captured and Logan was only able to rescue Laura. Logan onto the tree stump Charles using his last strength walks up behind X2. X2. 4 slowly stabs him with his claws then falls to the ground paralyzed by Charles and some of the mutant kids.

Logan is then freed and falls on the ground next to X2. Charles dying from his wounds.
